Duke's Storage, Lincoln Mead, Pietermaritzburg

Dukes Storage is a self-storage yard at Bishopstowe, just east of Pietermaritzburg. It has ground-level units of 12, 18 and 24 square metres with steel roller doors on concrete aprons, so a vehicle can back up to the door. Units take household contents, business stock, files and display kit, and some have wider doors.

Every unit has its own alarm on armed response, and cameras and floodlights cover the blocks. The owner holds the keys to every unit, checks the units in person and opens up when tenants arrange a visit. Access is during weekday hours and Saturday mornings, and other times can be requested. Leases run month to month with no deposit or admin fee and one month's notice. Tenants arrange their own insurance.
